Today was held at the Archbishopric of Santiago de Compostela the second meeting of the Board for the Holy Year 2021, a ceremony presided over by the compostelano archbishop, Monsignor Julián Barrio, and attended by the Auxiliary Bishop Jesús Fernández, members of the Council of the Cathedral as well as representatives of diocesan delegations of the Confraternity of St. James, religious congregations and laity.
In his speech, Archbishop Barrio asked all attendees them to work for the Holy Year of 2021 was an event of profound “spiritual and pastoral” dimension, inviting pilgrims to experience the religious experience implies and defines the road and Compostela, a city that is inconceivable without the Apostle Santiago.
Different proposals at the meeting held in the event of the year 2021, as conferences, interfaith gatherings, the revaluation of Jacobean spaces as well as opening temples attention to pilgrims by volunteers were studied. It is also studying the design of the poster and commemorative medal.
In the pastoral aspect it was discussed the desirability of catechetical preparation for use in parishes to celebrate the Holy Year, as well as the opportunity to offer a course volunteer del Camino in the Diocesan School for Pastoral. All participants agreed also on the need to care for the liturgical aspects, the sacramental attention to the pilgrim through confession and eucharistic worship, “to encourage genuine personal encounter with Jesus Christ.”
