Compostela Church starts to prepare and conclude the next Holy Year of 2021. It will be a date “round”, as it will be the third in the XXI century and one hundred twenty of the history of the Church.

Friday met for the first time the Board will be responsible for its preparation. It consists of thirteen members chaired by the compostelano, Archbishop mons. Julian Barrio. In the Board include the auxiliary bishop mons. Jesus Fernandez, council members, representatives of diocesan delegations of the Confraternity, religious congregations and laity.

The meeting compostelano Archbishop reminded the audience that the priority should be the spiritual. Therefore, the Church will emphasize the scoop of grace. In this sense mons. Barrio recalled that “we are in danger of forgetting the need to justify the meaning of life. The sense is the field to answer the deepest questions of the human being. we can not lose sight of the Magisterium of Pope Francis, who teaches us to journey from the depth and sense of transcendence, seeking the identity of the way, perfection, peace, charity and holiness. ” The next Holy Year must be “time conversion time to proclaim the Gospel in the spirit of the beatitudes to help a necessary moral renewal”.

Archbishop Barrio also noted that Santiago must be “place of welcome and hospitality cultic, cultural, pastoral, artistic … but above all is called to be spiritual center of the third millennium. Santiago should be, as someone said, the Jerusalem of the West “.

The Board will be responsible for preparing the Holy Year and raise awareness of the spiritual purpose of the Way. The next meeting will be in January.
